Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups water
  • 1.5 cups whole milk
  • 2 tbsp loose black tea leaves (Assam or CTC)
  • 4 green cardamom pods (crushed)
  • 1 small cinnamon stick & 1 slice fresh ginger
  • 2 tsp raw cane sugar

Instructions

  1. Bring water, crushed cardamom, cinnamon, and ginger to a rolling boil for 3 minutes.
  2. Add black tea leaves and boil for 2 minutes until dark and fragrant.
  3. Pour in whole milk and sugar; bring to a boil.
  4. Lower heat, simmer for 3 minutes, then boil up once more for deep karak flavor.
  5. Strain through fine tea strainer into cups and enjoy hot.
